Tax Free Weekend is Right Around The Corner
South Carolina’s Tax Free Weekend is coming up August 5 – 7. During the Sales Tax Holiday, shoppers can purchase a variety of items like computers, clothing, and school supplies – online or in a store – without paying the state's 6% Sales Tax and any applicable local taxes.
To help our business partners, a Retailer Toolkit is available at dor.sc.gov/retailer-toolkit where you’ll find several resources, including:- Signs you can post on your entrances to promote the weekend
- Promotional graphics and example posts to share on social media
- Advertising tips using #SCtaxfree
- FAQs to answer questions about reporting sales, handling returns and exchanges, and more
Here is a sample message you can use to send to your business partners:
South Carolina’s annual Sales Tax Holiday is August 5-7, 2022. Friday through Sunday, shoppers can purchase school supplies, computers and technology, most clothing and accessories, and certain bed and bath items without paying the state’s 6% Sales Tax and any applicable local taxes. Eligible items are tax free whether they’re purchased in-store or online.
A Retailer Toolkit from the South Carolina Department of Revenue is available atdor.sc.gov/retailer-toolkit to help you promote the weekend to your customers and answer your questions.
